Your Chess.com year, card by card

Chess Year reads every standard game you finished on Chess.com in the year you pick and turns them into a short story. You see how many games you played and when, your wins, draws and losses, how your time split between bullet, blitz, rapid and daily, your rating from January to December, the openings you kept coming back to, the opponents you met most, your best streak and the games worth remembering. The last card sums it up in one image you can share.

How it reads your Chess.com games

Chess.com publishes every member's finished games through its public Published-Data API, one archive per month. Chess Year asks for those archives one month at a time, straight from your browser, and waits and tries again if Chess.com asks it to slow down. Only standard chess counts: variants such as Chess960 or Bughouse are left out. A game belongs to the month and year it ended in, and daily games count as games but not towards your hours at the board.

Rating, openings and rivals

Your rating line follows the pool where you played the most rated games, so a blitz player sees their blitz rating and a rapid player their rapid one, with the start, the peak and the finish. Openings come from the opening names in your games, for White and for Black. Your rival is the opponent you played most often, your nemesis the one you lost to most, and your favourite opponent the one you beat most; computer opponents never count.

Free, private, no login

You do not sign in, connect an account or install anything. The public profile is enough, and nothing is sent to our servers: your browser downloads the games and counts them itself. The only thing kept is the last username you typed, in this browser, so the form is ready next time. Chess Year is an independent project and is not affiliated with Chess.com.
